Las Cases, 1-40: The beginning of the grandaddy of Napoleon Memoirs.

I read all those other books first just to work my way up to Las Cases because it is such deep credible material. Las Cases tells how he was raised as an aristocrat brought up to fall for banker tricks and then those bankers lured him into a Q like useful idiot cause. It was because of the clemency of Napoleon that Las Cases was permitted to return to France after all of that whipped up unnecessary BS.

After that, Napoleon recognized Las Cases for his talent and character and he was included in the government. The controversy about Las Cases is was he just a reporter after a great story? Was he in it for profits? Did he finagle himself out of St. Helena by plotting himself off the island?

Las Cases was an adoring acolyte to Napoleon and we get a fantastic glimpse of Napoleon trapped - like he is now. Please help us get free!!
