Meneval was a cute badass who had been friends with and in the employ of Napoleon’s family and then Napoleon kidnapped him.
Meneval gave his life to Napoleon’s cause, lost his health in the Russian nightmare, then became Empress Marie Louise’s sort of confidant and secretary. Through his perspective from proximity to plant/Manchurian candidate Marie Louise (both D and I were severely brainwashed by the Rs in a similar but antipodal manner), we get a real glimpse into what happened once the crime dynasty brought her back to her home base in Vienna.
