The Byrds - So You Want To Be A Rock 'N' Roll Star

This is from Koand’s Songs That Influence Him List. I’m not surprised I never heard this one on the radio or elsewhere before. The deep cuts say this sort of thing quite a bit. When the “agent man” finally came for me I was expecting it and it was very interesting to watch her pull her moves. She still hovers and I wish she’d finally move on with her life. It’s not their job to control us with their carrots and sticks. We can throw them off. Their contracts are garbage. They’re made in bad faith and if we unite - not enforceable one bit. My “agent man” presented herself as an employee of the US Government and we verified that she wasn’t lying about that. She is the epitome of “the enemy within”. She presented herself as a truther online but could not have come off any faker and she was a central pusher of the Trump/Q story. She also pretended to be a devout believer of one religion when she was very obviously a practitioner of very dark arts. By pretending to be of that frequently scapegoated religion and behaving the way she does, she is smearing a lot of innocent people in an extremely malignant way. Does she ever think about what she is doing - most of all to herself? Does she actually believe the false promises her lying bosses have held out to her to keep her following that carrot which is leading her to complete total oblivion?
. . .

Then it's time to go down town
Where the agent men won't let you down
Sell your soul to the company
Who are waiting there to sell plastic ware
And in a week or two if you make the charts
The girls will tear you apart

"So You Want To Be A Rock'N'Roll Star" Lyrics

So you want to be a rock'n'roll star
Then listen now to what I say
Just get an electric guitar
And take some time and learn how to play
And when your hair's combed right and your pants fit tight
It's gonna be all right

Then it's time to go down town
Where the agent men won't let you down
Sell your soul to the company
Who are waiting there to sell plastic ware
And in a week or two if you make the charts
The girls will tear you apart

What you pay for your riches and fame
Was it all a strange game
You're a little insane
The money that came and the public acclaim
Don't forget what you are
You're a rock'n'roll star
