Napoleon always said he would’ve been happy to have supported Louis XVI - if he had shown more force. Louis XVI was by all accounts a kind and caring monarch.
If we had a leader of the caliber of Napoleon, how could he even help us if he were elected to a term of 4 or 8 years as president? He’d have legislative bodies full of bribed and blackmailed traitors working against him.
The present system wouldn’t allow a heroic leader to help us. A useful leader would need to be vested with the authority to actually help the public and that leader would need to be genuinely altruistic. If the leader turned out to be bad, they’d need to be deposed.
Just because it’s been this way our whole lives doesn’t mean it can’t change and improve. It’s up to us to get involved and to make it better. It starts with educating each other.
