Mainz, Saturday, August 23, 1806.
I'm leaving tomorrow for Aachen, my dear Eugène. The King has been there for a few days; but as I was sick, they put leeches on me, and I stayed a few more days.
I will travel to Cologne by yacht. Adèle came to join me and, being a bit free, I imagine that our trip will be very nice.
Farewell, my dear Eugene, when will we see each other? God knows but he makes us wait a really long time.

Mainz, Sunday, October 19, 1806
M. de Talleyrand must have given you details of all of our successes yesterday, at least the little we know about it.
We are still waiting for mail like the Messiah and our first concern is to immediately learn the good news regarding all those who interest us. You are, of course, the first on the list, my dear Eugène.
I hope that this war will not endure long, because the beginning is very brilliant. [The battle of Jena was won on the 14th of October, 1806.] I think your wife would not be sorry to see you rest a little; I, who know all the sorrow that it causes you, can only desire what you would most appreciate; but i come back to my great moral which is resignation and seeing that everything is for the best.
Goodbye, I kiss you and my sister. How do you spend your time? Ah! I see with sorrow that I am very foreign to all that you do, because you have so little time to write that I do not know any more small details about you, on what you do and, when I think of you, I don't know how to picture you anymore. My little children embrace you.

Let’s look at the transits the day of the battle of Jena. Napoleon, Hortense and I all have some manifestation of Saturn in Cancer (the moon) which can imply constriction in emotion or in origins. Chiron (wounding) transits this sensitive area.
Regardons les transits le jour de la bataille d'Iéna. Napoléon, Hortense et moi avons tous une manifestation de Saturne en Cancer (la lune) qui peut impliquer une constriction dans l'émotion ou dans les origines. Chiron (blessé) traverse cette zone sensible.
We see a large concentration of planets in Libra. This reminds me of a reference to astrology in a Napoleon painting. This transit for Eugene is in his 11th house associated with people as a group (Uranus). We find there sensitive Neptune and lucky beautiful Venus.
Nous voyons une grande concentration de planètes en Balance. Cela me rappelle une référence à l'astrologie dans une peinture de Napoléon. Ce transit pour Eugène est dans sa 11e maison associée à des gens en groupe (Uranus). On y trouve des Neptune sensible et de la belle Vénus chanceuse.
Mars is transiting over Napoleon’s sun sign of Leo. Like Eugene, the grouping of planets in Libra is occurring over Napoleon’s 11th house connected to the multitude.

Mars is transiting Louis’ natal Mars in the 5th house associated with Leo in the constellation of Leo. Jupiter (foreign affairs) is beginning to transit his 9th house associated with the same. Like me, Louis’ midheaven (reputation) is in potentially dour and ambitious Capricorn.
