Was Hortense seeing the future? Hortense voyait-elle l'avenir?

This is part of a series of letters by Hortense and Josephine to their beloved Eugene. Recently our letters are about Hortense’s extreme dread at the idea of being stuck at the mercy of her husband - where he will also be King of Holland.

Hortense refers to her fatal future trip to Holland. We know that it does turn out to be fatal. Was Hortense having a premonition as she seemed to have many times throughout this saga? Or was her dark outlook manifesting fatality?

Saint-Leu, Wednesday, May 1806.

Dear Eugene,

I am very sad, my dear Eugène. This fatal journey to Holland is finally decided. Admiral Ver Huell told me about it. I couldn't help but cry. I told him that I needed to be loved by the Dutch if they were going to be able to replace what I lost.
I don't know if we should go there right away. The Emperor allows us both to go to the waters. The Prince [Louis] wants to go for his health. As for me, what will do me the most good, is to see you. So I prefer to stay with you. But you are slow to come. Seeing you would be a great consolation for me. I am at this moment at Saint Leu.
Mrs. Ney came to spend a few days with me. We walk around a lot and that doesn't do any good. I kiss you both with tenderness.

HORTENSE.
