Was Napoleon a narcissist?

According to misleading propaganda he was.

Napoleon’s pleasure in life came from relieving the suffering of the poor. He did this frequently and made no effort to publicize this. After battles, he would search for the wounded of both sides and do what he could to save them. In Egypt, when he was parched and given a bottle of wine, he immediately ordered that it be taken to the wounded. There are too many stories like this to list here.

He was frugal with himself and lavish with others. He offered compensation for people who suffered in consequence of their association with him. Even while everything was falling apart, Napoleon gave his Valet money to compensate for the pillage that had occurred at his country house.

Napoleon’s second wife hated his first wife so he asked his stepdaughter to please intervene to alleviate the suffering her jealousy was causing her by asking if she could help Josephine move farther away from where they were living. When Josephine asked to not be driven farther away, he respected Josephine’s wishes. Napoleon showed empathy to someone who, it could be argued, didn’t even deserve it.
