Hortense’s Neptune.

Neptune energy is kind and intuitive. It can also be tricky and deceptive - prone to drug abuse. Neptune is about illusion and it’s about truth. Neptune energy can be that dark wizard who fools the world using media illusions to gain power or it can be a prophet who would never dream of deceiving anyone. Their deep connection to the spirit realm gives them truth and they share it in the hope of freeing humanity. These are the paradoxes of Neptune.

Neptune is found in the 1st house (Mars, Aries, Cardinal) of Hortense’s natal chart. That means that Neptune energy would be very central to her outward identity. She really was a kind person who helped others. She was prone to illusion as I have supposed that she fell into a relationship with someone who was more than likely using and tricking her. She was spiritual. She had her own chapel at her home in exile and there’s no question in my mind about whether she spent a lot of time there.

Hortense almost has a cardinal grand cross.

I also almost have a cardinal grand cross. I find it highly unusual we both almost have this extremely difficult pattern. What’s a cardinal grand cross?

These planets with their respective constellations and houses which color them will be in the throes of a difficult balancing act. This is happening in the cardinal constellations: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Aries and Libra are a pair of opposites. Aries is about ME and Libra is all about getting along. Cancer is emotional and wants a peaceful family. Capricorn is about order and discipline. These are cardinal signs because they are relate to change and getting things started. A person with a cardinal grand cross is an agent of change and it’s not easy being an agent of change. They are disruptive and very upsetting to themselves and others.

In Hortense’s memoirs, she frequently laments that she so wanted to please people but it was impossible for her to achieve this aim. Her Neptune (kindness) in Libra (getting along) in the 1st house (Mars) as part of a cardinal cross (frustration) could account for this reality.
