See below the natal chart of Hortense Bonaparte, né de Beauharanis. The Tanster has been exploring the field of astrology for several months now to determine whether it has any truth in it. You will notice that in Hortense’s Fifth House, concerning communication and self-expression, the planets Pluto, Mars and Jupiter were present at the time of her birth. That means that essentially her interactions with the world were being dominated by death, war and generosity. Those elements line up fairly accurately with what history tells us of Hortense’s life. Her step-father was Emperor Napoleon, lord of war. She lived with it on an almost constant basis. She was devoted to charity. Her life was filled with tragic deaths.
In addition to the death of two of her children, her father, Alexandre de Beauharnais, was executed when she was only 11. Obviously this would have a huge impact on her development and her interaction with the world.
The chart below also shows where the planets were transiting on the day Hortense’s father was killed. Pluto, associated with death energy, was transiting, in retrograde, her Fifth House, where Pluto also was when she was born. Pluto in transit is directly opposite Mercury, which is associated with communication. That’s a lot of death energy impacting her interaction with the world on the day her father died.
