Hortense’s Mercury.

As I have already mentioned in previous posts on this topic, Mercury is right on her Descendant - The place of partnership, Hortense is famous for all manner of publicity about Napoleon. This is emphasized by Mercury being the chart ruler as Mercury rules Hortense’s Ascendant sign, Virgo.

This Mercury is trine, in harmony with her Moon which is in its rulership, Cancer, a reinforcement of emotional power. Hortense’s communication about this partner is driven by deep emotion.

Natal Mercury, in addition to being in the 7th house of partnership is also in Pisces (Neptune), a boundless mysterious spiritual place. Mercury is also by the Constellation Aries (activity, Mars, war). There you see the warlike partner.

Hortense’s Sun (Leo energy), her fame, her everything is in Aries in the 8th house. The 8th house is of death, transformation on investigative spiritual truth. This is another arrow pointing to the type of energy which Astrology indicates animated her life.

These arrows may be saying that Hortense had a spiritual partner and that she communicated about and he was warlike and famous.

Mercury is opposite the Ascendant which could indicate someone with powerful but controversial ideas. There’s going to be pushback with this placement.

Mercury is sextile (in harmony) with Jupiter, Mars and Pluto. Jupiter makes it boundless and grand. Mars and Pluto are death, transformation and war. Pluto gives it a spiritual character. This only ultra reinforces the point that Hortense is the spiritual partner of a warrior and she communicated about it. What reinforces this even further is that we find this stellium (planet group alignment) in the 5th house associated with Leo. Leo is the sun sign of Napoleon and this house can very well be related with family fame and royalty.

Jupiter, Mars and Pluto are all in Aquarius, a place of genius and community service. These planets are also close to Capricorn, a place of discipline, determination, institutions - an Empire.
