Could we understand Napoleon’s 2nd wife Marie Louise better if we understood the “quiet borderline”?

At the moment, I’m trying to understand Marie Louise. What really comes across throughout all the congruent data we have is that she desperately wanted to be loved and that she was really, really unhappy. It’s difficult to see how she could’ve been authentic in her situation. She was sent to France to undermine Napoleon as she married him and bore his child. How could they do that to her? Was she someone who had developed a pattern consistent with that of a quiet borderline?
